Wounded again...

phew, another late night episode of shouting and crying. But what's so special about this time, well, while she is going through her emotion of shouting and crying and runny nose, she actually pee-ed on the mattress she's sitting on. Well, we do not have any sofas in our living room, only one mattress which we sit on.

What was the subject of argument? Plenty, by the end of the argument, I'm totally confused. But as the previous time, I managed to keep a cool head while she accused me of this and that. Sometimes, I really wanted to record all the 'episodes' and then hopefully she can revisit back and see the irrational way which she talks or the conclusion she have at that times.

As for the title of this post, well yeap, I got her nails embedded into my arms again. Not serious, just more scars and some bruises at the chest. While she is shouting her lungs out as if someone is butchering her, I tried to silence her by closing her mouth. That's when she get rough with me. Thank God, I did not in any way hit her out of anger. I did that once or twice when I see her lose control and act like possessed and I deeply regretted it. But that was the times before we got married and I promised my pastor that I will never did that again. If I really could not stand her madness, I better go away temporarily to avoid confrontation that may become physical.

Thank God for the past few late night episodes, I managed not to shout nor become physical in any way.

I think she needs to see a doctor. She has the symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder. That's the only conclusion that I could make.

Got this from the web -

Borderline Personality Disorder is considered to be the most common personality disorder. The diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder is somewhat controversial because it is difficult to diagnosis. Some classic symptoms of this disorder include an intense fear of abandonment, emotional intensity, unpredictable mood swings, impulsivity, obsessive ruminating, paranoid distortions and self-destructive behavior.

People with Borderline Personality Disorder have immense difficulty regulating their emotions. They display a marked hypersensitivity to other people and the stress of social interactions and emotional intimacy that leaves them on an emotional roller coaster that is terrifying to themselves and others. People with BPD become so overwhelmed by their own emotions that they lash out at their loved ones in unpredictable rages or turn their fear and anger inwards and act self destructively.

Individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder find it more difficult to distinguish reality from their own misperceptions of the world and their surrounding environment. While this may seem like a form of delusional disorder at times, it is actually caused by their intense emotions overwhelming their regular cognitive functioning. This is why people with BPD can sometimes excel in academia and the work place and yet totally lose control in their personal and family lives.

The most distinguishing characteristic of Borderline Personality Disorder is a tendency to see things in black and white. People suffering from this disorder live in a world of extremes. They either idealize or vilify everyone they meet. Often they veer between idealizing a loved one and devaluating them causing great turmoil and misery in that loved one’s life. Situations these people encounter are viewed as either ideal or disastrous. It doesn’t take much to upset their equilibrium. A frown from a co-worker or neighbor may send them into a rage and their spouse and family members may have to listen to obsessive ruminating about this co-worker’s personality and actions for several weeks afterward. A neighbor may be shunned as a result of a facial expression, a throwaway comment, or a broken lunch date. A family member may be cut out of the will after displeasing the BPD by some minor action or because the BPD has fabricated in their mind, actions or motivations that never occurred.

Individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder are generally not psychotic, however their behavior can seem “crazy” to those closest to them. They often have extreme mood swings that cycle very rapidly through out the course of a single day. They are irritable and anxious much of the time. BPDs are often suspicious and distrustful of loved ones and others without real cause. They experience cognitive distortions and accuse loved ones and others of doing things they haven’t done and of having sinister motives for the simplest of actions. They feel they can never get enough love and affection to make them feel happy and secure. Loved ones feel they are constantly “walking on eggshells” fearful of doing or saying the “wrong” thing least it set off the rage of their borderline family member.

me people with Borderline Personality Disorder engage in self-destructive behaviors such as over spending, overeating, promiscuity, criminal behavior, substance abuse, prostitution, and eating disorders. A subgroup of BPDs is involved in chronic self-mutilation for example purposely burning and cutting their skin. Some BPDs cut their skin so often that they are referred to as "cutters". Suicidal ideology is common at some point in many of these people’s lives.

At times people with Borderline Personality Disorder feel empty, spacey and unreal. Central to those with borderline personality is an identity disturbance, a feeling of being empty and out of sync with the rest of humanity. They may have a deep-rooted secret belief that they are evil. Often Borderline’s may project their own feelings of inferiority on to loved ones whom they then devalue and abuse. Some BPDs physically abuse their loved ones, kicking punching, slapping and gouging their loved ones with their fingernails. They act verbally abusive to people they know well while putting on a charming front for other people, thus fooling coworkers, neighbors and therapists who may not believe family members stories of abuse. They may appear competent and even excel in some situations while acting extremely out of control in others. Child and spousal abuse is common

My wife is getting mad....

Dear PA,

Today, my wife went back to her home again. She left in a hurried manner. My father was very sad about this. Early this morning, we have a nice and simple breakfast at home. While we are chit chatting, my wife got seriously offended with a simple comment that was meant as a joke.

She then pack her bag and I drives her back to her hometown. Upon return to my home 3 hours later, my parents and I had a serious and emotional discussion. My father told me that next year, she does not have to come to our home for New Year gathering. My mother told me that she will support any decision I made with regard to our marriage. My father told me that my wife is just so emotional and gets so easily offended. Simple comments will be interpreted as demeaning. Gentle advise from the elderly becomes degrading comments. Even a simple remark of some food in her hometown is interpreted as looking down at their side of the family.

What is wrong with my wife? Why is she so inferior? Why does she always claim that I neglect her parents when this is not the case? Why does she always insist that my dad is manipulating me and controlling each and every of my move when we are only meeting once in a few months? Why does she claim that I stupidly takes the burden of helping my father in seeking treatment for his heart condition? She even says that my mom is a scheming woman who tries to control my life and take away all my savings!!! But the question is, what money have I given to them?

My father wants to sit down and speak with her parents about this. They want her parents to correct her. But I doubt this will help much. In fact, it will make matters worst. The biggest problem with her parents is that they doted their children so much. To the extent they do not know what is wrong and what is right....

The shit has hit the fan......

She is still not back....

It is now 8pm. My wife has been out since morning. Yeap another argument. It seems I will never have peace at home, and I will never have peace on Sunday.

Yesterday, she slept late. Some functions at her company causes her to reach home only around 1am. By the time she finished bathing and drying her hair, it's already well past 2am.

This morning, I lovingly told her to continue sleeping and don't bother to go to church. I know she does not like to go to church, especially the one we are attending now. No particular reason, but most probably because of the CL. But then again, she never really make herself comfortable in any church or to build relationship with the members of the church.

I have also promised her that I will be back before afternoon, after which I shall cook lunch for her to eat. I took out a fish which I brought early yesterday morning at a major wet market near town, so that it will be ready when I am back in less than 3 hours time.

But she refuse. She says she want me to attend 'another church' at the city. Well, I couldn't understand the reason for her to do so. What is she thinking? The silly reason she gave?

Well the church starts an hour late from the one we used to attend. That means she could sleep longer. Now, as a person who has spend so much time with her, I know this is not her real reason. Simple calculation will show that the delay of one hour will be insignificant. The church we are attending is within walking distance, while the one in the city need 30min of travelling one way.

Ever since the last trip back to hometown, I have told myself and promised my mother in law that I will nurture her both physically and emotionally. This also means that I will give in to all her demand, at least temporarily, so that she would not suffer a mental breakdown. During the last trip, she basically blowed up in front of her parents and shouted like a person possessed. If you have seen her prolonged madness, you will breakdown crying too.....

When her mother saw that, she too began cry and pleads me that if we allow her to be agitated again, she may go mad.

Both of them told me that they know the fault is not on my side, and that she is very very unstable and not herself for the past one year. They notice that she has keeps repeating herself and does not know what she is talking about. But they also explained to be that I am the only person that could help her now and want me to do all I could, so that she will not thread this path of darkness.

As the husband, I agree, and promised them I would. And I know I have to....

But to ask me to attend another church as a visitor is just too much. For the past few weeks, I have been going through hell at work and have been worrying sick of my father's condition. Every call I receive at night send chills to my bone as my father is suffering from heart disease. The fact that we could not afford private hospitals means that we could only depend on public hospitals. And the waiting period for angiogram is just so long.

With all the pressure that I am in, I really needed the support and prayers of church brothers and sisters. I needed them to come along with me as I go through this difficult period of my life. I need their company and sunday is the only time where I could find some peace, solace and fellowship with them. And my spirit is renewed as I praise and worship to the Lord with the people I know with....

So, this demand from her is very very difficult for me to swallow and give in.

She even argued that if all I want is to worship the Lord, then it does not really matters which church I go!...well, if that's the case, why don't we setup an altar at home, just like the chinese do?

Throughout these difficult period, she has never really provided me with much comfort. She even refuse to visit my parents during Christmas and when my father celebrated his birthday....Nor did she called them to ask their condition. When I think of these, I become so sad and depressed.

We didn't really argue much. I just get out of the house while she continue to accuse me of putting brothers and sisters and even the church at a higher priority than her....sigh..

I attend the church alone, with a heavy heart. God knows my condition today, and he assigns don to be the worship leader today. He easily brings us into fellowship with the Lord and I cried out to the Lord during worship.
